For best results, HydroBond DPC should be applied in accordance with industry best practices. In cases where structural walls are exposed to ground moisture or lack an existing damp-proof course, it is strongly advised to consult a qualified specialist for tailored recommendations and long-term protection.
Preparation Made Simple
For best results, proper surface preparation is key. Follow these smart steps before applying HydroBond DPC:
- Redirect Surface Water: Ensure rainwater and runoff are steered away from the building by repairing or installing efficient drainage systems.
- Below-Ground Floors? No Problem: If internal floors lie below external ground level, dig exterior trenches to at least 150mm below your planned DPC line—if foundation depth permits.
- No Trenching Option: Where trenching isn't feasible, inject HydroBond DPC a minimum of 150mm above ground level, then tank internal walls below the DPC line to block lateral moisture ingress.
- Expose the Injection Zone: Remove skirting boards, wall fixings, and any damp or salt-contaminated plaster. Strip plaster up to at least 1.1m above the intended DPC line to prevent salt migration and ensure a clean, absorbent surface for injection.
Prepare thoroughly. Apply confidently. Protect permanently.
DRILLING & INJECTION GUIDELINES
Achieve maximum protection with proper application:
- Drill 12mm diameter holes horizontally along the mortar line, spaced 75mm apart. Suitable for both single and double brick walls.
- For solid brick walls, drill from one side only.
- On walls thicker than 350mm, drill from both sides at matching heights to ensure full penetration.
- Inject HydroBond DPC using a 1-litre silicone gun applicator, filling each hole completely to ensure thorough saturation and barrier formation.
